The Curriculum

Children should mainly develop in the 3 prime areas first. These are:
  • Communication and language;
  • Physical development; and
  • Personal, social and emotional development.

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.

As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are:
  • Literacy;
  • Mathematics;
  • Understanding the world; and
  • Expressive arts and design.

Our Space

Magic Dragon Preschool is in Bishopston, Bristol and operates from the Good Shepherd Church Hall, which serves the community as a venue for other groups as well.

The hall has good road access with plenty of off-road parking for safely dropping off and collecting the children. There is good access for wheel chairs and buggies.

It has been established for over 30 years and has a Parent Committee as the management team. The morning session is run by a team of dedicated staff.

The morning activities are carried out in the Meeting room, Small & Large Halls which are bright and airy. In addition to this we have a kitchen, and disabled toilet facilities.

There is an enclosed garden which provides opportunities for the children to explore & investigate and enjoy the natural world.

Our Policies

We have a portfolio of policies and procedures covering safeguarding, heath and safety, etc. These are available at the pre-school, and are reviewed on a regular basis by the staff team and management committee.

“My daughter has loved her time at Magic Dragon”

Clare Terrett

“My children have both had a great time at Magic Dragon over several years. I can’t fault it – kind, enthusiastic staff and a happy atmosphere. We shall all miss it when my youngest starts school in September.”
